Are You on Department of Homeland Security Watchlist?

See UPDATE at the end.

If you are reading this post chances are you are on the Department of Homeland Security watch list as a right wing extremist. But I am not an extremist you say. Of course you are not. You know that. I know that. Anyone with any sense knows that. But today our government has little sense. They are targeting people like you and me because we have a propensity to terrorism…or so they say. Actually we just disagree with them.

What makes us targets? Basically it is things that make us solid citizens. If you are pro-family, ex-military, conservative politically, pro-life, hunter, Christian, or any traditional badge of stability you have a propensity toward being a militia member on the verge of overthrowing your government in a bloody coup. In the eyes of a new DHS report you are a Timothy McVeigh in the making and need to be spied on.

So you meet the general requirements of being on the watchlist, but how do you find out if you specifically are on the watchlist? This can be done through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

FOIA Request for DHS Watchlist

Your FOIA request can be emailed or sent here:

Sample FOIA Request

Dear FBI:

On April 7, 2009 DHS issued an Intelligence and Analysis Assessment on Rightwing Extremism. This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act for all names that are on any watchlist or similar type of document maintained by, possessed by or known by DHS or the FBI that lists anyone in the categories identified as rightwing extremists in the aforementioned report.

If there is an exemption that would keep you from providing the full list to me, I request that you identify that exemption and at the same time provide the same information specific to me. My name is Lisa Krempasky.

I appreciate your timely compliance with my request. Should you need any additional information to complete this request please contact me at the email address on this request or at Lisa Krempasky, PO Box 21718, St. Louis, MO 63109.

This shall also act as my authorization to spend up to $20 in compliance with this request. If the fees are in excess of that amount please contact me for authorization.

Very Truly Yours,

Lisa Krempasky

5/5/09 UPDATE Got my FOIA response back from DHS. It says basically it is not their responsibility and I should contact the FBI. I’ve modified the letter above to comply with the DHS response.

Letter to the FBI can be either emailed to [email protected]
or sent to:

FBI Freedom of Information Act Office
Records Information Dissemination Section
FBI
170 Marcel Dr.
Winchester, VA 22602-4843
Fax (540) 868-4995

You can request your full FBI file in the letter since you are writing them…but know that you might have to also write local FBIs of where you have lived to get the complete file.

No doubt, I am also on the Department of Homeland Security’s watch list. I am, after all, right-of-center politically. And I’m an Army vet. And I’m pro-life. And I also believe in the 2nd and 10th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

Moreover, if DHS has visited the Berea Bits section of my website (http://emmeffemm.com/id90.html), it knows that I’m highly critical of Barack Obama.

So, of course, I MUST be a potentially violent anarchist.

      Dear Mr. Murray,

It is not only non-followers of “obama” that are feeling the heat. I am Left wing, ex-military, pro-choice, and also a strong believer in the 2nd amendment. I would like for you to know that Obama is currently FAILING at resolving the issues of the PATRIOT act. I feel that the Patriot act MUST be abolished before any progress in the United States will be made. Might I suggest taking a look at the documentary, “End of America”. It covers all of this. We are currently living in Nazi-Germany style society. If you beleive germany was riddled with death and destruction pre-world war two, I would suggest to look at history. German society pre-WWII was set up almost EXACTLY as our society is now. just watch the “end of america” documentary.

My daughter returned from a TOD in Iraq to be told that all returnees are on the watchlist.
Not only are they on the list, but they are being followed, cell phones monitored, and in a couple of instances homes are being watched.

Is this the way we are suppose to treat our returning Patriots?

  3. Jane Giddens says:

This is exactly why the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, and other agencies do not have time for the people who are truly a threat to our country. They are so preoccupied with normal, everyday citizens that disagree with current politics that they have little time to track the real threats to our security.

  4. Caleb Hays says:

Did you ever hear back from the FBI? I’m guessing I’m probably on the list and I’m getting ready to fly internationally. Don’t want to hold my group up on the way back in!

    • How did your flight go Caleb? I heard back and they refused to disclose the information after I was sent through a maze of agencies saying “it’s not my job.”

      • Caleb Hays says:

        Wonderful bureaucracy, eh?

I was able to enter the EU with no problem (weird, huh?) but when we landed in Atlanta, we had to go back through security to connect to Tulsa. I got pulled into the “special” security line with the new full-body scanners. It took an extra twenty-five minutes on top of the normal security time to get through it, and right as I got to the last part – the actual scanner – the waved me around it.

Guess I wasn’t as suspicious as they thought… thank goodness! University students returning from choir tours to the Republic of Ireland shouldn’t be! :)

  5. How do you really know who is or is not on the Homeland Security watchlist? How do you know for sure that pro-lifers, politically conservative individuals, and those who have been known to speak out against Obama’s failed policies are on this list? Must we all become hyper sensitive and feel threatened over some government program to squash all opposition? How could this type of program by our government work, when there exists so many millions of people here with diverse political views? I am an independent conservative, evangelical Christian, pro life, against same sex marriage and liberal social engineering. In speaking my views to newspapers in the past, I have never felt some watchdog agency would read my statement and say, “Ah, another dissident, put him on our list for future reference. We will keep him under survellance.” I think we are getting carried away. I do not believe everyone is on the watchlist, but I do believe some Islamic groups are, as well as those organizations and individuals who threaten armed revolt or encourage violence. I am also the editor and publisher of an online Christian website, http://www.orovalleychristianreader.com. If anyone can find legitimate proof that non threatening and ordinary Americans are on this watchlist please advise, as I would like proof. Regards… John J Flanagan

  6. David says:

I made the list even before I knew there was a list, now my life is in ruin. I had a most recent event of one of those dirty cops waiting in the shadows to do an unauthorized pit maneuver on me. My lawyer says it doesnt matter if I can prove it, the cops get away with murder.
