Support Miss California for Speaking Against Gay Marriage

Miss California should be Miss USA. I’m not a pageant watcher, but I am a supporter of those who speak up for truth no matter the cost and Miss California did that.

Perez Hilton, gay activist, was a judge at the Miss USA pageant. During the question and answer time Hilton asked Miss California,
Carrie Prejean what she thought of gay marriage. She answered that the way she was raised she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman and that she meant that as no offense to anyone. Hilton was out of his mind livid and has stated he marked her down drastically for that answer. According to Hilton, Prejean is a disgraceful Christian hate monger out of touch with America and could not adequately represent America in pageants because she does not agree with his radical views.

In response Prejean has said she would not change her answer at all after having time to reflect. She is thankful that God gave her an opportunity to stand up for what is true and right wihtout compromising. The Miss USA crown is not worth the price of compromise according to Prejean. For that she gets a standing O. Go Carrie! Go! You are a woman of high integrity. To support her write:

Or facebook her here.

Here’s what I wrote on Perez Hilton’s facebook. “You are so out of line. You demand Miss CA accept your view, but you do not accept hers. You are a disgrace. If you want respect give it. You say you don’t want Christian views being pushed yet you push gay views. You are not an honest man. You are a political activist that will cut down people’s dreams if they do not agree with your outrageous political demands. You are a disgrace and have no integrity in you. Your end does not justify your means.”

If you want to comment to him you can do it here. You need to become a fan, but as soon as you post your comment you can remove yourself as a fan and your comment will remain.

Update 5/2/09 Keith Olbermann of MSNBC has taken obscene, indecent and hateful swipes at Miss California on his show April 30th. See the video and learn how to file an FCC complaint against Olbermann.

First of all lets get one thing..err…straight. Miss California should be able to speak her mind and have her own opinions. However, I feel that when your answering broad, hot button issue questions (on an national beauty pageant no less), your answer must be inclusive and positive. I mean seriously if instead of gay marriage she was asked about lets say affirmative action and she answered in the same way, I think she would have gotten the same response. This is simple interview technique that I think Miss California frankly screwed up on, the public doesn’t really want to what you think, they just don’t want to feel excluded. And in her answer, while she was being true to her beliefs and saying “no offense”, she unfortunately did offend many. Christians don’t have to like gays, and they can have their opinions, but in a beauty pageant opinions need to be like laundry detergent commercials, fun, bright, and impossibly inclusive.

    • Thanks Victor, but I disagree. A judge cannot take a political stance, especially as in this case where he probably knew she held opposing views, and then mark her down for giving an answer that is against his politics. If a feel good answer is what he wanted then he should have asked a feel good question instead of using the moment for his radical gay agenda. His whole point was to try to get her to compromise.

  2. David Quintero says:

Personally I don’t agree with Prejean, but I don’t feel beauty pageant contestants should be consigned to having only views held by the judges. Hell, I wish they would have views about important things as opposed to, say, what is the best nail color polish.

I applaud Ms Prejean for speaking her voice even though I disagree entirely with the substance of her comments.

Wasn’t Anita Bryant a former beauty pageant contestant? Hmmmmm….

    • Thanks David. I agree. This is America. What has we become if someone is penalized for holding views different than another. It is one things to attack someone’s tactics, but I don’t think there can be any dispute the it was her views that were being attacked and that it was Hilton who was using improper tactics. He knew her position going in. They get a contestant bio. He was gunning for her.

  3. To ‘add fuel to the fire,’ Keith Lewis, the Executive Director of Miss California USA/Teen USA, sent Perez Hilton a statement about the incident.

“As co-executive director of Miss CA USA and one of the leaders of the Miss CA family, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss CA USA 2009 believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman. Although I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit, I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone. Religious beliefs have no place in politics in the Miss CA family.”

Miss California Carrie Prejean is intelligent and beautiful. She deserves praise for having the courage to stand up for her beliefs!!

  5. “Miss California has done a wonderful job; that was her belief. … It wasn’t a bad answer; that was simply her belief.”

    — Donald Trump, co-owner of the Miss USA pageant

  7. Gary James says:

A hearty thanks to Miss California for answering the question she was asked in reference to gay marriage. The world is a mess and when a person such as she stands up to doing right thing right I think God has blessed her and our country. The person who asked the question is a misguided person who should not be allowed to be involved with any one or program who believes in the common good for all.

  8. daniel says:

i congratulate miss California for her courage and her integrity, she stood up to that fascist radical activist who wants to impose his views on everyone, slanders anyone who doesn’t share them and uses his position to blackmail people into defending his views publicly and denying theirs. he says she doesn’t deserve to win because she doesn’t represent the views of americans , who is he to know what are the views of americans? aren’t americans in their majority against same-sex marriage? wasn’t it in California that people voted against this kind of marriage?
shame on the media that defended that freespeech-hating bigot and shame on all the people who are hard-working to steadily limit free-speech by using various forms of persecution against those who do not agree with the view they want to impose on everyone.
ps: sorry if my english isn’t perfect, I’m from France.

  9. Lynn says:

Being the mother of a son that is not only a wonderful person with values and many other morals, he is also gay. I believe this to be a prejudicial issue as gay people have a problem with or without a gene which is a proven fact. Therefore the gay population is being descriminated against as they were born with, as some would say, a developmentally diabled problem. I believe that Miss CA needs to open her eyes and do more reading rather than shoot off her mouth because of how she was raised. It makes me believe she comes from a dysfunctional family that is so shallow to believe it is because they think rather than study up on the issues and present it with not only knowledge, but a little touch of class. She could learn that from the gays

    • Lynn you are wrong. It is NOt medically proven there is a “gay” gene. I have no doubt your son is a wonderful person, but that does not give him the right to be married. Miss California is an excellent example and role model whether you agree with her views or not. We need more honest people with integrity who will stand up for what they believe no matter the consequence to them.

      • Lynn says:

How can Miss CA be an excellent role model because you think she is. The gays are being discriminated again. Is discrimination a great role model? Just because she is behind the times does not make her an excellent role model and example because she believes. If I believed in slavery which I don’t would I be an excellent role mode and excellent example because I would have integrity and stand up for what I believe in. NO .

  10. Holly says:

Thank God somebody finally speaks up for what they believe in!! What are we all puppets and can’t speak out the truth we have to lie now… This world is crazy!! I am so proud of her and I hope people start to look up to her. We need more people like her in this immoral world. It actually makes me more against gay marriages now just because people are attacking her. Pretty soon the media will be saying that violence and adultry is perfectly normal too.. UUhh it makes me sick!! Good job to her!!

  11. CESAR says:

I LOVE YOU GIRL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TELL THEM WHAT A LOT OF US DON’T HAVE THE VOICE TO SAY I AM AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE IT IS BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN IT JUST COMMON SENCE.THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOUR PATH TO BIGGER AND GREATER THING

  12. Carrie Prejean deserves to have her crown. She is beauiful and is also entitled to her own opinion about gays. `.

  13. I’ve seen Carrie Prejean in person and i would have to say that she is just average looking,”`
