You may never have heard of Marcus Luttrell, but you owe him a debt of gratitude. Marcus is a former Navy Seal. On June 28, 2005 Luttrell and Navy Seal Team 10 were tasked with bringing in high ranking Taliban official Mohammad Ismail dead or alive. While on the mission, the 4 members of Team 10 came across some goat herders. They let the men go free only to be betrayed by them within the hour. Very soon the 4 men of Team 10 were engaged in a fierce fire fight with upwards of 150 Taliban rebels.

As the battle raged, Luttrell’s Team 10 fell one by one until he remained the Lone Survivor
. The Navy dispatched a MH-47 Chinook on a rescue mission, but it too was shot down killing all 16 crew members and leaving no survivors. Luttrell was severely wounded but managed to crawl and claw his way 7 miles hiding from and evading enemies at every turn. After 6 days of protection from the Taliban by local villagers he was finally rescued by American soldiers. Here’s his story as told to Matt Lauer.

Marcus separated from the Navy and continued his healing. As part of his emotional healing he was given the unconditional love of a service puppy. He immediately named him DASY after the fallen members of Team 10 who have never been more than moments out of his thoughts since their massacre. Like many soldiers, Marcus is doing his best to adjust back to everyday life, but still suffers the physical and emotional scars of the Seals worse single day in their history.

On April 5, 2009 Marcus was at his home in Texas when he came across 4 teenagers standing over DASY whom they had just slaughtered with a .357 magnum…for the kicks of it. He watched his buddies die once and they have just died to him again. Our hero Marcus Luttrell, needs our love and support. Stop by his facebook page.

Luttrell is no different than thousands of American heros. We applaud you soldiers and sailers, grunts and flyboys. You are what makes America great and we never could thank you enough for securing our freedoms. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
